Welcome to Oof Records’ shiny new website!

Hello friends!

The day has finally come. Oof Records is now officially official. We have a website!

We hope this website can serve as a way for friends, new and old, to dream with us and support our collective vision for Orbit of Friends.

A little background: Orbit of Friends was established in early 2020, when a battery ran out during a FaceTime call between founder/label-head Ava Mirzadegan and co-founder, David Britton. The two friends were trying to brainstorm what way to release David’s music into the world, when they came to the idea of starting a label and community where the sharing of music was done by tapping into already built orbits of friends, and in turn, the orbits of those friends.

Building off this idea of orbits, our first release was a compilation, aptly entitled Oof Records Compilation #1. It featured artists that we absolutely adore like Gabby’s World, Den-Mate, Thanks for Coming, and Bluish. You can listen to that comp on Bandcamp! (100% of digital proceeds from this first compilation will now be diverted to Casa Ruby in DC.)

During this first year, Oof has focused attention on artists that we feel are wildly talented and deserving of being highlighted. These artists, so far, include: David V Britton, Vital Records, Highnoon, Carmen Canedo, Harley Alexander, Airhead DC, and Thank You Thank You (with much much more on the way).

Our second compilation, Oof Records Compilation #2, was just released in November 2020, featuring 27 artists, including Oof favorites: Possum, Sasha & The Valentines, waveform*, Michael Cormier, Iven, and Max Gowan (who also mastered the compilation). Again, you can listen to the compilation on Bandcamp! (100% of proceeds from this compilation will go to Emergent Works—a non-profit software company that both hires and teaches coding to folks that have been formerly incarcerated.)

We are so happy to have grown the way we have and are deeply excited about what’s to come. Can’t wait for this orbit to keep growing… we hope you’ll join us for the ride.

Warmly,

Ava
